Telstra set to launch iPhone in Australia?
According to this piece in today’s Daily Telgraph, Telstra has been talking to Apple about launching the iPhone locally early next year.
Telstra boss Sol Trujillo confirmed the pair had been in talks and also that he believed Apple would produce an iPhone that was compatible with its NextG network.
“The company they introduced the iPhone with in the US is Cingular and obviously we have a very good relationship with Cingular (now called AT&T),” he told the Daily Telegraph.
There’s also obvious scope for Telstra to incorporate some of its IP (read: Sensis’ IP), such as the YellowPages, which recently launched a widget for the iPhone in the States.
The news comes in the wake of Apple’s deals to release the iPhone in France, Germany, Canada and the UK.
